The Pīwakawaka is everywhere in Wellington, darting through the bush, following you down a track, appearing at your window apparently just to check in. New Zealand's fantail is one of those birds that seems genuinely curious about people, which makes it very easy to love and surprisingly difficult to paint. They never stop moving. I've painted the Pīwakawaka a few times now, stormy, fluttering, in pairs, in threes. Each one is a small exercise in catching something that absolutely refuses to sit still. The tail fan, the quick dark eye, that curious and nervous energy.
Worth the effort every time. All prints are limited edition, produced on archival paper with pigment inks built to last. Ships to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and everywhere in between.
