The Morepork, or Ruru, is one of those birds you hear long before you see.
That distinctive two-note call drifting through the bush at dusk is as Wellington as the wind. New Zealand's only surviving native owl, small and fierce and perfectly adapted to a life lived mostly in the dark.
I've painted the Ruru a few times now and each piece has felt different, the Karaka series, the moonlight pieces, the Putaputaweta. There's something about those huge eyes that demands attention on paper. They look like they know something.
All prints are limited edition, produced on archival paper with pigment inks designed to last. Ships to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and everywhere in between. i can also fly these little beauties to all corners of the world.
